Under 17's

The 2010 season brought about an exciting venture for Ponthir CC, the creation of an U17 team in conjunction with our friends and near neighbours of Monkswood CC.

Both clubs have been on the verge of having their own teams for a couple of years now but have not quite had the player resources to make it a reality. Discussions between the two clubs made this ambition a reality and the team played its first match away to Croesyceiliog on Sunday 20th June 2010.

This is a a real challenge for the lads as all the other clubs operate at South Wales Super League, Premier or Division 1 level, it is also exciting as there is is real talent at both clubs at this age bracket. Over the last decade or more both Ponthir and Monkswood have invested heavily in their youth sections in order to secure the future of both clubs and it is paying off with the average age of both sides being considerably younger than was the case only a few years ago.

The team did well in 2010 reaching the League Semi Final and we hope to continue this success into the 2011 season.
